MEDAL COMPETITION SENIOR GRADE CONTESTS NORTH SHORE AND COMRADES Tlio Auckland Football Association will commence its modal competition to-morrow, when briglit and interesting games should be witnessed. Two fine attractions have been arranged at I3!andford Park. In the principal fixture Comrades will be opposed to North Shore. Comrades has the better record and should have a slight advantage, although North Shore, which has promoted several juniors, gave evidence of improvement in the championship game against Thistle last Saturday. YACHTING DEVONPORT CLUB'S FUNCTION DISTRIBUTION OF PRIZES The Devonport Yacht Clnb held its annual smoke concert and distribution of prizes in the Navy League rooms, Devonport, last night. The president, Mr. G. Trevithiek, occupied the chair and there was a large attendance of members and visitors, including the Mayor of Devonport, Mr. H. F. W. Meikle, and Lieutenant-Commander W. G. Monckton, of H.iM.S. Philomel. In extending a welcome ' to the visitors, the chairman thanked boatowners residing on the Auckland side of the harbour for their support. Mr. Meikle congratulated the club' on its progress and, on behalf of the Devonport Borough Council, thanked the club for the interest it had taken iii the jubilee regatta. "The function," said Mr. Meikle, " was an outstanding success and the commodore, Mr. W. Ollivcr, hnd his officers and coinmitteo are to be congratulated on their efforts," Lieutenant-Commander Monckton said that, the Xavy would always do its best to .further the interests of yachting. The prizes were presented by thrf prosident.
