MOTORIST'S APPEAL
SUSPENSION OF LICENCE PORTION OF TERM REMITTED [by telegraph—own correspondent] DUNEDIN. Friday As a result of an appeal to the Minister of Justice, a Dunedin motorist, whose licence had been cancelled by the Court for 12 months from September, 1936, has succeeded in having portion of the term of suspension remitted. In some cases on an application for a rehearing being made in open Court offending motorists have had their licences reinstated, but. it is understood that unless fresh evidence can be brought touching tho charge on which the conviction and cancellation order are entered, such application is not now entertained. Through his appeal to the Minister the motorist in question gained the benefit of the prerogative vested in the Governor-General, by which restoration of a licence may' be granted.
