CRAWFORD CUP TRIAL
j MOTOR-CYCLE CLUB'S OUTING A good muster of motor-cycling enthusiasts attended the Auckland Motor-cycle Club's Crawford Cup trial on Sunday last, one rider coming from as far afield as Waimauku and two others from Pulcekohe to take part. For the second year in succession tho contest was won by J. Barry. Leaving the clubrooms in Grey's Avenue at 10.30 o'clock, the competitors proceeded to the first observed section on a clay hill near the Auckland Zoo. From there they travelled to Titirangi where many points were lost on the slippery surface of another three observed sections on the old Exhibition Drive. After a picnic lunch near the Titirangi Hotel, the trial continued on a course leading out to the black bridge on tho road from Waitakere to Bethels'. The creek was high as a result of recent heavy rain and the carburetters on some of the smaller machines cleared the water with only an inch or so to spare. Points were deducted on observed sections over greasy stretches of clay road every time a rider used bis feet to preserve or regain his balance. Results were as follows:—J. Barry (Velocette), 21 points deducted, 1; C. F. Keefe (O.K. Supreme), 26 points deducted, 2; H. Batty (8.5.A.), 39 points deducted, 3; K Kennerly (Ariel), 40 points deducted, 4; W. Cronk (Velocette), 45 points deducted, 5; O. Brindle (New Imperial), 49 points deducted, 6; D. R. Nash (Ariel), 52 points deducted, 7; R. Burns (Ariel), 69 points deducted, 8.
