NEW CENTRE AT NGATEA THE OFFICIAL OPENING Erected and equipped at a cost of nearly £2OOO. the new manual training centre at the Ngatea District High School was officially opened yesterday morning. The centre will serve about half-a-dozen schools in the surrounding districts, whose fifth and sixth standard children will be conveyed to Ngatea by motor-bus. Tliero was a large attendance of residents and parents from the district, the gathering being presided over by the chairman of the Ngatea school committee, Mr. W. McDuff. Short addresses were given by Mr. McDuff, the chairman of the Auckland Education Board, Mr. T. U. Wells; the Hon. A. Burns and Mr. C. R. Petrie, M.P. The secretary of the Auckland Education Board, Mr. D. W. Dunlop, addressed the parents on the advantages to be gained from consolidation.
