DOUBLE MURDER

ITALIAN BROTHERS SENSATION IN FRANCE VICTIMS ANTI-FASCISTS CRIME THOUGHT POLITICAL By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright (Received June 13, 5.5 p.m.) PARIS, June 12 The bullet-riddled bodies of two Italian brothers, Carlo and Sabattino Roselli, were found in a wood yesterday near Alencon. The adjacent ground was trampled, and a bloodstained dagger was lying close by the bodies. The brothers' motor-car, which was also bloodstained, was found on the high road not far away. The Rosellis wero active antiFascists. Carlo was the founder of the Paris newspaper Justizia e Liberta. Ho was recently severely wounded while fighting for the Spanish Government. The brothers conducted an antiFascist club in Paris, which is alleged to have disseminated international propaganda. « It is believed that the Rosellis were lured to their death by political gangsters. Carlo received a mysterious letter asking for an appointment. This ho kept, accompanied by his brother. Strands of Hair as a Clue Strands of hair under the fingernails of Sabattino was one of the slender clues to the murderers. Also they indicated that Sabattino fought desperately for his life. Carlo apparently was* killed instantly. A post-mortem examination proved that both men had been stabbed. Carlo had two wounds but Sabattino had seven, one of which severed his jugular vein. It is believed that the dagger found in the vicinity was not used in the crime but was left as a warning. The political character of the crime is believed to have been established by the facts that a sum of 2000 francs was found in Sabattino's pocket and that this and Carlo's cheque-book were not touched. An Italian who was arrested has been released owing to his proving an alibi. Alleged Discontent in Italy Guiseppi Nitti, son of a former Premier, declares that the murder of Carlo was organised by the Ovra (Fascist secret police) which had lone determined to kill him. The assassination, ho says, coincides with increasing discontent in Italy where a reign of terror has been renewed. Many of those who are discontented include women in the neighbourhood of Home and Bologna who have been beaten. Carlo's newspaper Justizia c Liberta this morning includes a black-bordered panel drawing attention to the fact that tho brothers wore murdered on the 13th anniversary of the "assassination of Matteoti by order of Signor Mussolini."

WIDOW COLLAPSES EXPECTED THE TRAGEDY LATE HUSBAND'S CAREER (Received June 13, 7.10 p.m.) PARIS. June 12 The widow of Carlo Hoselli —whom Signer Mussolini regarded as his greatest enemy owing to his constant exposure of 11 Dune's most cherished secrets —is an Englishwoman, formerly Miss Marion Cave, daughter 'of the headmaster of the Harrow Boys' High School. Italians imprisoned Signora Uoselli after her husband had engineered the escape from Li pari (Signor Mussolini's Devil's Island) of the former Socialist deputy, Signor Turati, in 1929, but the intervention of tho English authorities resulted in her release.
