OVERCOME BY FUMES
MISHAP IN GAS CHAMBER YOUNG LABOURER'S INJURIES Overcome by gas fumes while cleaning out a gas chamber at the Westfield freezing works yesterday afternoon, a labourer, Mr. Henry George Wilton, aged 26, of 17 Shore Road, Remuera, fell and struck his head on the concrete floor. As he fell Mr. Wilton struck the electric wiring system inside the chamber and suffered a shock from the 230-volt current. The injured man was attended by Dr. V. D. Griffon, of Otahuhu, and was later conveyed in a St. John ambulance to the Auckland Hospital, where he was found to be suffering from concussion, gas poisoning and electric shock. He made a good recovery and his condition was not regarded as serious last night.
