METROPOLITAN GUN CLUB y The Metropolitan Gun Club opened its grand Coronation clay target tournament yesterday afternoon at Mangere. There was a good attendance, and shooting conditions were very favourable. Scores on the whole were excellent, there being per cent of hits in the £O2 10s 21-target handicap. Thirty-nine shooters from all over tho North Island were present. The six-target eye-opener sweepstake was divided by 23 shooters, all witli the possible. In the £O2 10s Coronation shoot, ten shootors secured the possible of 21, as follows:—M. Pratt (Otorohanga), lSyds; L. F. Ramsey (Metropolitan), 16yds; R. H. Bartlev (Metropolitan), 12yds; R. Groome (Otane), lSyds. Twentv breaks each were secured by J. Donnellv (Metropolitan). 10yds, J. Dobson (Metropolitan), 12yds; C. Webber (Morrinsvi Ho), 13yds; J. McMullan (Cambridge). 15vds; G. Glennie (Metropolitan). Kiyds; G. McMullan (Cambridge), 13yds; W. A. Thonison (Palmerston North), Kiyds; F. Joblin (Morere, tlawke's Bay). 10yds; A. J. Hanigan (Metropolitan). 12yds; F. Curtis (Metropolitan), 1 lyds; L. Peterson (Metropolitan*, 13vds; C. Seddoti (Hamilton). 18yds; F. 11. McFarlane (Cambridge), 12yds; W. J. McMiken (Hamilton), 10yds. The £ls double rise match of 10 pairs attracted a field of 33 shooters. Three shooters secured the possible of 20 breaks, as follows:—D. P. North (Whangarei), 16yds; D. Ewing (Whangarata), 11yds, and F. Joblin (Morere), 14yds. They divided the stake. Nineteen breaks were secured by M. Pratt (Otorohanga), Kiyds: W. J. McMiken (Hamilton). 14yds; W. Dates (Tokomaru Bay), llyds; C. P. Webber (Morrinsville), 11yds; R. H. Bart-ley (Metropolitan), llyds. The day concluded with half a round of skeet, a type of clay shooting entirely new to a number of visiting shooters. The highest score was registered by W. A. Thomson (Palmerston North), who broke 14 out of 17. The next highest scores were:—W. J. McMiken (Hamilton), C. P. Webber (Morrinsville). D. P. North (Whangarei), and R. E. Cnthbertson (Wanganui). with 12 breaks each. The tournament will be concluded tO;day with a £IOO handicap and £ls American handicap shoot, besides other sweepstakes and skeet-.
