JUMPERS IN ACTION JOLLY BEGGAR GOES WELL FURTHER RIDING ENGAGEMENTS [B\ TELEGRAPH OWN CORRESPONDENT^] HAMILTON, Wednesday While no fast work was attempted at ie Kapa this morning, there was some schooling over the country by Royal Limontl and Curlew, and a jumping bout of four flights of hurdles by Jolly Beggar and Englishman. • \\ ith a few exceptions, pace work was done on the sand track. Royal Limond (11. Beale) was associated with Curlew (B. Sullivan) over six fences of the steeplechase course. Curlew refused at the first brush leading out of the straight and was not persevered with at this fence, Royal Limond, after clearing it, awaited his companion, and the pair negotiated the rest of the country in line style. Curlew outjumped Boyal Limond, to establish a lead of several lengths until after taking the soil wall at the foot of the straight, where Boyal Limond finished on to lead the way home. Boyal Limond is bearing a healthy appearance. Interest centred in the showing of Jolly Beggar (Beale), who was accompanied by Englishman (Sullivan) over four flights of hurdles. Both jumped well, Jolly Beggar doing the better at the end, although Englishman also shaped well. Sky Pilot and Monastic worked on the No. 2 grass track, while Greek Gold was among those working on the sand. Additional riding engagements include the following;— C. Don Erma worked strongly over two circuits this morning. He is in great order after his racing at Hawera. The Champion Hack Plato was run at 1 '"Aw a 11iii.''—The "Forbury system" provides for two pools, as in v in-and-place betting, but from the so-called "win" pool, two dividends are paid, in the proportions of 75 per cent for the winner and 25 per cent tor the second horse. When the number of chances is sufficient; three dividends are paid from the place pool.
