BAN ON ROOSTERS

Sir, —I read in the Herald of April 30 that the Rotorua Borough Council has banned the keeping of roosters in the town area on account of the noise they make at night. Here in Parnell, near the centre of Auckland City, 1 am kept awake regularly from about 1 a.m. with the noise of roosters crowing. Surely it is wrong that in a place the size of Auckland this interruption should, in the absence of prohibitive law, make it impossible to obtain rest and relaxation which is so necessary after a hard day's work.

PA RN ELL R ESIDENT.
