MILITARY BALL
TERRITORIAL ASSOCIATION CORONATION CELEBRATIONS A COLOURFUL SPECTACLE A spectacle of colour and gaiety was presented in the Auckland Artillery Hall, Rutland Street, last night, when a Coronation dance arranged by the New Zealand Territorial Association (Northern Command) was held. The dance, which was the first of a series to he held during the winter months, was well attended, over .'3OO guests being present. Artistic decorations in red, white and blue had been carried out in the hall, a canopy in these shades completely covering the ceiling, while Empire flags and nikau palms draped the walls. The far end of the hall was carpeted and comfortably furnished with chairs and couches.
Further colour was given to the scene by the picturesque military uniforms worn by a number of officers, while the service khaki and dress blues worn by the N.C.O.'s and men wore also effective. Supper was served upstairs, the tables being banded with red, white and blue ribbons and vases of gay flowers. The music rendered by the Band of the First Battalion, the Auckland .Regiment (Countess of Kanfurly's Own), under the leadership of Lieutenant G. W. Bowes was a feature which contributed considerably to the evening's entertainment. Rousing military two-steps and marches were included in the programme, also a number of novelty dances, for which prizes were awarded during the evening.
