SHARE IN HONOURS NEW PRECEDENT SET KING AND TIIE ARMY COLONEM' lUS-IN-OIITEF By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright (Received May 1.1, <>.•"> p.m.) British Wireless RUGBY, May 10 The list of honours conferred on the occasion of His Majesty's Coronation is notable both because members of the Royal Family figure among the recipients to a degree exceptional on other occasions, and because of the unusually wide and national character of the recognition given to public and political services. The King himself has assumed Colonelcies-in-Chief of the First Royal Dragoons, the Royal Welsh Fusiliers, the King's Royal Rifles Corps, the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders, the Royal Tank Corps, the Duke of Lancaster's Own Yeomanry in the Territorial Army and the Officers' Training Corps. Also His Majesty lias assumed the Colonelcies-in-Chief of the 16th Light Cavalry, the First Punjab Regiment and the 13th Frontier Force Rifles. The King has appointed Queen Elizabeth to be Colonel-in-Chief of the Queen's Bays, the Second Dragoons Guards and the Black Watch Royal Highland Regiment. Queen Mary has been appointed Colonel-in-Chief of the Queen's Royal Regiment, West Surrey. The Duchesses of Gloucester and Kent, Princess Beatrice, Prince Arthur of Connaught and Earl Harewood are also appointed to other Colonelcies-in-Chiof and honorary colonelcies. The King has conferred on Queen Elizabeth the title and dignity of Lady ( of the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle. SPECIAL STAMPS ENORMOUS DEMAND 35,000,000 ALREADY SOLD (Received May 11, 5.-JO p.m.) LONDON, May 11 There is an enormous demand for the special Coronation stamps. Crowds of people are queuing up for them and it is estimated that the sales have amounted already to 35,000,000, compared with the normal demand of 20,000,000 to 25,000,000. QUEEN ELIZABETH GREATEST DAY IN LIFE TOILETTE ARRANGEMENTS LONDON, May 10 The Daily Mail says that Queen Elizabeth will spend four hours being dressed for the greatest day of her life. She has given instructions to be called at 6 a.m, on Wednesday, and she will step into the Gold Coach at 10.30. Apart from half an hour occupied in having breakfast, the time will be taken up by her hairdresser, personal maid and dressfitter. The important task of dressing the Queen will be entrusted to her maid. Miss Catherine Mac Lean, who dressed her for her wedding. The hairdresser will arrive at 7 a.m. The Queen's coiffure will not be elaborate, but will take an hour to arrange, as Her Majesty has long hair, which is more difficult to dress than short. She will keep a fringe, but the coiffure will be arranged so as to enable her to be anointed during the Coronation. The dressfitter and assistant are due at 8.30 a.m. to supervise the arrangement of the Coronation gown. The Queen is blessed with a beautiful complexion, and she uses little makeup. only a light dusting of powder, the faintest touch of rouge and the smallest quantity of lipstick, which she will apply herself. Her nails will be polished a natural shade. Only her wedding ring will adorn her fingers, as the Archbishop of Canterbury places on the fourth finger of her right hand the " Queen's ring." Any remaining time the Queen will spend resting and approving the toilettes of the little Princesses, who will be similarly dressed in -silver lame reaching to the ankle and silver shoes. SYDNEY CHILDREN SHOWGROUND CELEBRATION (Received May 11, G. 15 p.m.) SYDNEY. May U Forty thousand children drawn from Sydney schools celebrated the Coronation at the Show Ground to-day. The.v enthusiastically pledged their loyalty, saying: "1 honour my God; I serve my King; T salute the flag." It was one of the greatest and gayest gatherings of children ever seen in Svdnev.
