PLASTERERS' DISPUTE
AGREEMENT ON HOURS WAGES ISSUES FOR COURT Matters affecting the wages and condition's of employees who belong to the Northern District Fibrous Plasterers' Union were discussed in conciliation council on Monday before the commissioner, Mr. It. E. Price. The employers' assessors were Messrs. It. A. Stanborough, Hj V. Wallace and A. : H Wigginton, and their agent was Mr. H. J. Bishop. The workers' representatives were Messrs. W. J. Itussell, G. W. Thorpe and J. Kim, their advocate being Mr. J. Purtell. Weekly hours of work were fixed at 40. on five days of the week, between 7.30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Definitions of the work also were fixed. A scale of wages for youths arranged, tliis increasing from 25s a week for employees 16 years of age to 68s for employees 21 years of age. Workers over the age of 21 will be paid adult rates. The question of whether overtime should be paid in respect of work on country work outside 40 a week was referred to the Arbitration Court. It was agreed that piecework should be prohibited. No agreement was roaehed in rcgnrd to overtime and hoiidays, and these matters were referred to the Court. Wages for adult workers also were referred to the Court. The scope of the award was agreed upon as being throughout the Northern Industrial District, but the term of the award remained unsettled.
