NORTH ISLAND NEEDS TWO NEW BRANCHES DISTRICT REARRANGEMENT [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Tuesday The substantial increase in the population of the North Island and the pensions legislation of last session have increased the work of branch offices of the Pensions Department. The Minister of Pensions, the Hon. W. E. Parry, stated to-day that the increase of work had made it necessary to rearrange the district boundaries and establish two new branch offices. The new offices would be at Whangarei and New Plymouth. The rearrangements of districts showing the counties included, with the number of civil pensions current in them, were as follows: Whangarei District. Mangonui, Whangaroa, Hokianga, Bay of Islands, Whangarei, Hobson, Otamatea, Rodney—3249. Auckland District. Waitemata, Eden, Franklin, Manukau, Coromandel, Thames —16,280. Hamilton District.—Waipa, Waitonio, Waikato, Raglan, Kawhia, Otorohanga, Taumarunui, Ohura, Kaitieke, Oliinemuri, Piako, Matamata, Hauraki Plains, Rotorua, Taupo, Tauranga, Opotiki, Whakatanc—s629. Napier District. —Cook, Waikohu, Waiapu, Matakara, Uawa, Wairoa, Hawke's Bay, Waipawa, Waipukurau, Patangata —4096. New Plymouth District. —Clifton, Taranaki, Inglewood, Whangamomona, Stratford, Hawera, Waimate West, Eltham, Egmont—2s34.

Wanganui District. —Patea, Waitotara, Wanganui, Waimarino, Rangitikei—2334. Palmerston North District.—Kiwitea, Oroua, Pohangina, Manawatu, Kairanga, Horowhenua, Akitio, Dannevirke, Weber, Woodville, Pahiatua — 3124. '

Wellington District. —Hutt, Makara, Wairarapa South, Fcatherston, Masterton, Eketahuna, Mauriccville, Castlcpoint, Chatham Islands —5640. "The alterations to be made," added the Minister, "will make for easier personal contact with applicants for pensions, who will be less inconvenienced and whose claims will be established more expeditiously."
