APPRECIATION OF WORK
A RETIRING PRESIDENT [from our own correspondent] WHAXGAREI. Monday A very sincere form of expressing appreciation of the outstanding services rendered to the activities of the Y.W.C.A. by Mrs. J. N. McCarroll during her term of 12 years as 'president was taken at a large gathering held in the club rooms on Thursday. Mrs. McCarroll, who is a life member of the association and a member of the National Board, recently retired from the position of president of the Whangarei branch. The Mayoress, Mrs. W. Jones, in making a suitable presentation to Mrs. McCarroll, referred to the many occasions on which she had placed her services at the disposal of the association. It was due to Mrs. McCarroll's efforts, said Mrs. Jones, that it had become such a force in the community, and her retirement was greatly regretted. In reply, Mrs. McCarroll said that although retiring as president, she would always be keenly interested in the work of the association.
