MINE WORKER INJURED
EXPLOSION OF DETONATOR [by telegraph OWN correspondent] WAIHI. Monday Tlio loss of the top part of his right thumb and part of the index finger, as well as severe lacerations of the middle finger of the same hand, were suffered by ivlr. Charles Kavanagh, single, aged 22, when a detonator exploded while he was preparing to "blister" a boulder during trucking operations at No. 14 level of the Martha mine early this morning. Mr. Kavanagh was attended by Dr. A. Jenkins and was admitted to the Waihi Hospital.
