No one was injured, and the passengers, perishable goods and mails were transferred to another train on the other side of the slip. The train had left Taumarunui at 2.50 a.m., and was due at Ohura at about 5 a.m. Gangs were sent to clear the line. Traffic was disorganised during the day, but the line was again clear at about 11 p.m.
