MARAMARUA HUNT
AN ENJOYABLE OUTING The Maramarua Hunt Glub held a meet at the Monument Corner, and threw off on Mr. G. F. Mclnnes' property. A scent was picked up, and the hounds rail across Mr. Mclnnes' into Mr. Neal's, and across the main road into Mr. K. McC'ardle's property. They circled round this property and back across the road into Mr. Mclnnes', into_ Mr. Neal's again, across the road, and into a gully in Mr. McC'ardle's property, where the kill was made." A new scent was picked up on Mr. McCardle's, and the hare this time, after running across . Mrs._ Nesbit'a. young grass, ran into Mr. Neal's and "kept doubling back over those properties. Finally the hounds lost the scent on the highroad. After drawing Mr. Neal's and Mr. Mclnnes' again., the order for home was given at 4 p.m. on the latter property, after a good day. T . ~ Several gbod runs were enjoyed during the afternoon, the: best being one < that led the field through the properties of Messrs. A. M. Fisher, W. A. . Fisher, F. W. Finley, Wright Vickera and Mrs. M. A. Vickers. After a threemile chase "puss" saved her skin by going to ground in a rabbit burrow on the bank of the river. Scent was grad and the going surprisingly firm in view of the wet weather experienced of late. The usual sprinkling of qualifiers was • seen out, and they negotiated the live . hawthorn hedges in good style. Mr. Alan Kay's Rusty Jack, ridden by Mr. G. Peake. and Mr. N. Souter's English-' man, ridden by his owner, were taking the obstacles in dashing style. These two hunters will be seen in action in the hunters' events at the June Meeting of the-Auckland Racing Club, when their form will be watched with interest by hunting enthusiasts from the Waikato; •
