STAND-BY PLANT

KING'S WHARF STATION RELIEVING ARAPUNI Although no definite advice has been received from the Public Works Department as to when the stand-by power 'plant at the King's Wharf station will he brought into operation, all preparations have been made at the station. It is expected that the emergency plant will be required to assist Arapuni early this week, and if instructions are received to-day at King's Wharf to bring the plant into operation to-morrow the station will be able to take over without any delay. The King's Wharf station is maintained as an emergency stand-by plant to relieve Arapuni during peak periods. As there will be an exceptional demand for power during the Coronation celebrations the assistance of the King's Wharf station will probably be necessary, and that assistance will be maintained during the winter peak period.
