GOLF CONTESTS
CLUB COMPETITIONS TOURNAMENT AT TITIRANGI GOOD SCORES RETURNED Competitions were continued by the rarious local golf clubs on Saturday, / when conditions were good, although on some courses the fairways were inclined to be heavy. The Coronation tournament was commenced at Titirangi, and in a Stableford bogey exceptionally good scores were returned. With a medal round -r* 0 f 75, H. M. Rogerson scored 42 points, the runner-up being «T. Galloway with 40 points. Galloway had an excellent round of 72, including a 6 at the 13th. ]\[. Fraser-Smith and L. J. Clifford Both scored well, and P. Harrison won the junior division. The usual large field took part in the captain's prize tourney at Middlemore, and the majority of the matches in the first round were evenly contested. H. beaten by R. D. Wright at the 20th, and his brother, S. G. McCoy, was defeated by P. C. Savage at the 19th. S. H. Abel and W. Kerns each won his match after playing fine "rounds, Abel in particular having a brilliant run. H. Roy/ and J. Earle tied in a medal handicap at Maungakiekie, Roy winning on the count-back, while L. J. Drummond was the best of the juniors. Medal /, matches at North Shore resulted in wins for J. W. Morrison and D. H. Freakes. E. L. Ryan and F. McCarthy won a four-ball competition at Pupuke. A young player, M. Dudley, was responsible for a fine performance in the first round of the Manurewa Cup •at Manukau when he equalled the sscratch score of the course.
