NELSON WATER SUPPLY
[BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION'] NELSON. Friday A proposal to raise .■ loan of £BO.OOO for an additional water supply was carried by 981 votes to 786 in a [Mill of ratepayers yesterday. Declaration votes numbering 150 have yet to be received, but these cannot affect the result. The new water supply is to be obtained hv driving a tunnel from the head of Poor Man's Valley, Stoke, about six miles From Nelson," to the head waters of the Roding River, at the upper end of Aniseed Valley. The Government has promised a contribution of £•■'>•->.OOO toward the cost. The new supply is intended to meet the needs of Tahuria, Stoke and Richmond, as well as those of the city.
