The best eflorts were recorded by Tybalt; 'Locknit- and Tooley Street. On the grass, Loeknit (MeTavish) was too good for High Star (Williams) over six furlongs in 1.22 4-5, the last three in 43 l-5.5. Lock nit has made good progress in recent weeks and is revelling in the so 11 going. Horowhenua (Kearns) and Free Aii (light boy) traversed a round in 1.50 2-s', the last seven furlongs in 1.41 4-5. Tliev are thriving on their work.. Knight of Australia (Dulieu) completed his work with an easy six furlongs in 1.30 1-5. No fault can bo found with his condition.

Gay Broney (MeTavish) was not extended while running a round in 1.53. the last six furlongs in 1.28 4-5. He is looking bright and well. Yalspear (Wiggins) and Captain Bruce (Gilchrist) 'were companions over six furlongs in 1.29 1-5. going evenly throughout. \ alspear is in nice order and Captain Bruce continues to make good progress.

After running the first three in 41 3-ss, Tybalt (Gilchrist) completed six furlongs in 1.22 3-5. He relished the soft going and appears as well as ever. Royal Appellant (Buchanan) completed useful work with three furlongs in 44 3-ss. He is in good heart. looley Street (Kearns) was going easily alongside Miss Appellant (light boy) at the end oi half a mile in 53 2-ss. Toolev Street came through his autumn racing in good style and has never looked better. Kelly (Gilchrist) was let off with an easy six furlongs in 1.24 1-5. He is to contest the open sprint at the Pukekohe meeting. Arinaeourt (Murray) had a slight advantage over Valmint (Fearn) at the conclusion of six furlongs in 1.24, the last half-mile in 56 4-ss. Armacourt is working in her best style and should be capable of a solid effort when next raced. ,Valmint is in good heart but worked lazily. Ringshot (Wiggins) and Okawa (Dulieu) ran six furlongs in 1.23 4-5. the last three in 43 l-ss. Both did their work well. Kiltowyn (Goldfinch) hjt out'freely over half a mile in 555. He is steadily improving in condition. Crooning (Dulieu) worked usefully over a round, speeding up over the final three furlongs in 4l 3-ss. She has never looked better. Surella7 is, to compete at the Egmont meeting, where he will be ridden by H. N. Wiggins. It should not be for lack of condition - if he fails to win on the trip. • '

There was little between Lord Val (Baker), Black Marlin (Wiggins) and Te Hai (Manson) at the end of a round in 1.49, the last six furlongs in 1.25 1-5. Te Hai is working in his best style. NEW PLYMOUTH TRACK GALLOP BY RACE CALL [by telegraph-—own correspondent] NEW PLYMOUTH, Thursday The tracks at New Plymouth were again heavy for training operations this morning, although they improved a little wfyen the sun came out after breakfast.- Most of the horses with engagements at Hawera were worked. The best efforts were those of Race Call and Ngatirahiri. All the galloping took place on the course proper, with flags out about 35ft. Finishing • strongly, Bun try beat Eagle's Eye and Basra over five furlongs in j .12.1. This gallop took place early,' when the track was at its worst. Sporting Song and Court Arma schooled over the double and the post and rails. Court Arma hit the post and rails rather hard and _ unseated his rider. The slippery going may have been responsible for the mishap, as Court Arma is usually a most reliable fencer. * Refresher worked over a round, sprinting up the straight. He does not relish, heavy going, but hit out freely. Davistock appeared to be going better than Tahurangi at the conclusion or six furlongs in 1.24|. The pair finished solidly. Race Call and Ngatirahiri* ran five furlongs in 1.9>. They were stopping a little at the finish, after having gone fast over the early stages. Race Call is looking particularly well. Ngatirahiri is making good progress. • Don Erma (Gilmer) was schoo ed twice over the hen coop and the double j brush, giving a splendid display of jumping: He afterwards covered a mile in 2.0. . Winsome Lu covered six furlongs at three-quarter pace. I'Vrsen. who has resumed work, cantered twice round on the in.side. He is carrying plenty of condition. JOCKEY FOR HASTINGS PLANS OF H. N.
