VICTORIAN LABOUR UNITED FRONT REJECTED (Received March 'JfS, 11.15 p.m.) MELBOURNE, March 20 Tho annual conference of the Victorian Labour Party to-day rejected by 151 votes to 32 proposals of tho Communist Party for a united front at the next Federal general election.

.Bitter attacks on the Communists' tactics at previous elections were made. It was reported to the conference that 1 ho executive of the party had decided that in no circumstances must any member oi the party be associated with members of the Communist Party or its subsidiaries, nor in advocacy of n united front. Any member so offending would l)o automatically expelled.

An attack was also made bv the president of the Australian and New Zealand Council of Trades Unions, Air. A. K. Monk, on the Labour Premiers of Tfsmania, Queensland and Western Australia for their failure to implement by legislation tho introduction of the 40 hours' week.

Several speakers praised the work of the. New Zealand Labour Government in the interests of the workers, and said it was an example to the Labour Governments of Australia.
