INFLUX TO CITY
ACCOMMODATION TAXED NEARLY ALL HOTELS FULL In spite of the forecasts for bad weather over the Easter holidays, the city yesterday was crowded with visitors from all parts of the Dominion. As a result of the influx there was a general shortage of accommodation in the city hotels and boarding houses. L'coplo seeking accommodation have been turned away from all the leading Auckland hotels, although the rush had not reached its peak yesterday. " People commenced to hook for Easter as early as Christmas," one hotel manager said yesterday. "My houso is practically full now and to keep faith with the people, who have booked in and will be arriving to-morrow, /1 can let the remainder of my rooms only for to-night." Many hotels were faced with the same problem. A number of rooms were available for last night, but these will be taken to-day when a largo number of race visitors will arrive. Hotels will remain practically lull until Monday. Accommodation was further taxed last night, when a largo number of campers who wcro caught in bad weather, returned to Auckland to spend the holiday in the city.
Although the majority of visitors come from towns within easy reach of Auckland, a large number have travelled from Wellington and the South Island. Of the South Islanders, some are, making the Easter vaaction their annual holiday and they propose to stay in Auckland for two or three weeks.
