BRITISH MINISTRY
NOVEL PROPOSAL EMPIRE REPRESENTATIVE MR. BRUCE MENTIONED By Teleeraph—Press Association —CopyriKht LONDON, March 10 Under a full - page streamer, " Dominion Minister for Cabinet," the Daily Mail features a suggestion that a Dominion representative be included in Mr. Neville Chamberlain's reconstructed Cabinet as a representative of the Empire, with the probability of becoming chairman of an Imperial Defence Board.
"The Australian High Commissioner, Mr. Stanley Bruce, is mentioned for the post," the Mail says, "but failing his acceptance General Smuts (South Africa) may be invited. "Although he would be a member of Cabinet, the chairman of the Defence Board would not have a seat in Parliament, but would be likely to supersede Sir Thomas Inskip, as much of his work would be the co-ordination of defence."
