Mr. Bradshaw was helping to put the hatch covers on when the accident occurred. Considerable difficulty was experienced in getting him out of the hold, for it was necessary to place him on a sling and hoist him to the level of the deck. As the Harbour Board cranes were not working, the ship s winch had to be rigged before this could be done. In the meantime a St. John ambulance had been called, and the injured man was taken to the Auckland Hospital. His condition last night was not serious.
