BABY DROWNED
POND AT HIS HOME ATTRACTED BY GOLDFISH NEW PLYMOUTH FATALITY {by telegraph—own correspondent] NEW PLYMOUTH, Sunday Because he was interested in goldfish in the pond, John Charles McNeill, the infant son of Mr. Harry McNeill, climbed into a fountain pond at his home in Carrington Road, New Plymouth, to-day and was drowned. The child, who was aged 11} months, was playing with two Other children of the family. When he was missed a search was made and he was found floating in the pond, a concrete structure, the sides of which are raised to a level of about two feet from the lawn. WOMAN FALLS INTO STREAM RESUSCITATION EFFORTS FAIL [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] CHRISTCHURCH, Sunday A single woman, Marcia Joyce Blak*way, aged 23, fell into the Wairarapa Stream at the back of her home in Fendalton yesterday afternoon. She was taken to hospital after artificial respiration had been tried, but was dead on arrival. A post-mortem examination has been ordered by the coroner.
