NEW SEAM OF COAL

FIND AT 220 FT. AT WARO RESULT OF 15 MONTHS' WORK [I'HOM OITR OWN CORRESPONDENT] WHANG AREI, Saturday After 1") months of strenuous efforts with various setbacks, the manager of the Hikurangi Coal Company, Mr. H. Brady. has located a main seam of good quality coal at a depth of approximately '220 feet on the company's property at Waro. The thickness of the seam showing at present is about three feet six inches, and it is expected that in about a week's time the work will be more fully developed and the extent of the seam more fully determined. Work on this seam was commenced in November, 1935. and the main drive is approximately 880 feet. Water has been encountered, but only to an extent that can be dealt with without difficulty.
