RUNNING DESCRIBED SOME STIRRING FINISHES [BY TELECIUI'H —OWN CORRESPONDENT] PALM.:.:STON NORTH, Saturday In view of xhc fact that a number of tho competitors are engaged at Trentham this week the racing at Bulls was invested with special interest. Martara looks well and his Rangitikei Cup victory was impressive. Race Call and Even Money were the leaders all the way in the '1 rial Plate and the former had a narrow advantage nearing the straight, where Orient Dawn, Blue Mauritius, Gold Nymph and Lady Zona were prominent. Even Money outstayed Race Call, while Blue Mauritius was a close third, with Orient Dawn and Ruenzori next. Tho winner paid double figures. Jhe field was not a good one, but Lady Zona should improve.
Bazaine ran away with the Hurdles. With three furlongs to go, lie was nearly a dozen lengths in front and all the others were struggling. Forest Glow, a poor second, finished clear of lnvictus, with Padnos fourth. Trevclyn Hold fell at tho first hurdle. All the runners except tho winner lacked condition.
The field of four which contested the Ohakea Handicap ran in close formation to the straight. Collodion ran past Golden Chest and Tail Light failing to reach him, Collodion won by a length and a-half. Golden Chest will bo tho better for the race.
In the Bangitikei Cup Martara was prominent throughout, but lie did not tiiko tho lead till the straight had been reached. Plato made the running and before reaching tho half-milo, Hound Score made a quick move into second place. Martara and Grand Jury were handy. Martara moved up on the outside of tho loaders on entering tho straight and scored an attractive win over Lapel, who finished fast and just boat. Hound Score. Ingenuity was fourth. The winner paid a very short price and his St. Loger admirers were pleased with his performance. None of Iho others was impressive and Grand Jury, splendidly handled, had every chance. - Corroborce tried to win the GroAtford Handicap all the way, but ho was comfortably beaten by \Yar Lap. The form was not good. Tho Bailey Memorial Handicap produced a great finish anil tho winner paid tho biggest dividend of the day. Land Tax led to the straight, prominent being Bodvline, Tin Money and Laughing Lass. Hunting liodge came on tho outside and just beat Land Tax. The latter narrowly defeated Jubilee Song, who was onlv a nose in front of Laughing Lass, with Chief Hanger practically in line. Old Surrey was backed to a .very short price in tho Farewell Handicap and, in a desperate finish, he just beat Sanhedrin, who finished fast, with Kara, a close third, beating Corowa.
