MUTTON BIRD SEASON
FOVEAUX STRAIT ISLANDS [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRF.SFONDF.NT] JNVERCARGILL, Friday Mutton birds mean money to natives who spend the season trapping thousands of young birds which aro found in burrows each year on the islands around the Foveaux Strait. Passage money is paid in birds and a boat owner is charging 250 birds for the passage from Colac Bay and Bluff. Experienced mutton birders are not expecting a record season on account of the heavy rains, but it is hoped that the supply will be adequate for the demand.
