Major-General Sir William SinclairBurgess. general officer commanding the New Zealand Military Forces, was a passenger for Wellington by the limited express last night. Mr. G. Connall, who fo,r four years has been manager, of the Martinborough branch of the Union Bank of Australia, has been appointed manager of the Te Awamutu branch. Lord Balfour of Burleigh, a director of the National Bank of New Zealand, who has been on a short visit to tbft Dominion, will leave Wellington on Tuesday by the Awatea for Australia. Mr. A. Rosser, a member of the Auckland City Council, left by the limited express last night to attend the annual conference of the Municipal Association of New Zealand at Timaru. The Chief Justice, Sir Michael Myers, who has been conductiag sittings of the Supreme Court in Auckland for the past three weeks, returned to Wellington by the afternoon express yesterday. Mr. R. T. Reid, deputy-chairman of the Auckland Harbour Board, accompanied bv the superintendent, Mr. D. Holderness, and the secretary. Mr. W. B. Smith, made an official call yesterday morning on Mr. J. G. Groeninger, the new American Consul at Auckland. The Rev. T. Dent, of Thames, re- . ceived advice yesterday that he has been appointed" to the Brisbane West End circuit. Mr. Dent will conduct hi 3 final services in Thames on Sunday, March 21, and he and Mrs. Dent leavf* for Australia at the end of the month. The Rev. A. Nr Scotter, of Palmerston North, has been appointed to the Thames circuit.
