CABARET RAID
TITAIII BAY CASE THREE HUNDRED PRESENT POLICE SEIZE LIQUOR LICENSING BREACHES ALLEGED [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION'] WELLINGTON, Friday A raid on tho private quarters and sitting room attached to tho Rio Grande cabaret at Titahi Bay was described in a crowded Magistrate's Court to-day, when a number of men and women faced charges for offences under tho Licensing Act. Several defendants also faced charges involving the unlicensed sale of liquor at Porirua and Titahi Bay on various dates. A police officer gave evidence that he entered the private quarters of the cabaret on January 2.'}. The cabaret, which was full at the time, held about .'IOO people. In a sitting room there were three women and about 20 men. Quantities of liquor were seized there and a number of those in the room were drinking. The sitting room was attached to the cabaret through the cabaret kitchen. All other rooms of tho private quarters were locked. Tho hearing was adjourned.
