SURF LIFE-SAVING

MILFORD DEMONSTRATIONS The Australian surf life-saving team, which will give demonstrations at Milford and Pilia during the week-end, Avill bo asked to compote against two Auckland representative teams. This decision wqs made by the Auckland Board of Judges and Examiners, who, in view of the possible trip to Sydnoy next season, wish to try out younger surfmen as well as those who have had longer experience. The younger team comprises some of Auckland's best swimmers, including R. Buchanan (Waitcmata), the provincial surf champion. Others are C. Benson, P. Shanahan (Waitcmata), E. McCaffery. K. Price (Takapuna), O. Olscn and (). Mills (Milford). The other team, which will average I3st. and Oft in height, includes three provincial surf belt champions in N. G. Galbraith (Eastern United), 11)37; E. Slevens (lakapuna), 1030; C. J. Sidford (Piha), 1934. Other members are M. Smith (Eastern United), H. C. Sidford (Piha), and E. Mcintosh (Takapuna). The Auckland teams are training in the Australian methods in order to compete on an equal basis with the visitors.
