TAURANGA TOURNAMENT PUKEKOHE RINK WINS FINAL PASCOE CUP PRESENTED [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPOND ENT] TAURANGA, Thursday The Tauranga bowling tournament was concluded to-day in fine weather. The section ties were played in the morning. Onehunga (Robertson) defeated Otahuhu (Gardiner) Onehunga opened well with a fii-e on the first head, followed by a two. Otahuhu scored slowly, with Onehunga forging ahead, to be well up on the 13th head. If—7. On the 17th Onehunga were still well up, 22 —11. The 18th went to Otahuhu for one and the li)th to Onehunga for two, '24—12. With two heads to go Onehunga scored again ou the 20th. and won somewhat easily. The other gamo was between Pukekohe (Bish) and Carlton (Little). Carlton opened the scoring with a two, Pukekohe replying with two singles, and then Carlton collected a five. Bish replied with a four. Play then steadied down, and on the 11th head the score was 10-all. Carlton added a two on the 12th. and on the 13th Bish, when lying one, forced up a short opposing bowl and lost the shot. Bish then added two singles and Carlton one—l4 —l2. On the 10th head both teams were playing very steady bowls. On the 18th head Bish was lying one on the kitty with an opposing bowl just in front. He assayed to tako it out for a five with a wick. He got the bowl, but scattered the head and scored three, making the scores 15-all. With three to go a measure gave Carlton a two on the next. Pukekoho got a one on the 20th. Elliott (Carlton) drew a beautiful shot on the jack on the last head. Hosking attempted to kill the head, but failed. Bish also tried with his first and also missed. He then played to rest the shot. A perfect shot sent the kitty hack for two and the game. The final this afternoon between Onehunga (Masters, Gatland. Livingstone, Robertson, s.); and Pukekoho (Lumuer, Bradanovich, Hosking, Bish, s.). although not marked by good play owing to a tricky westerly wind, was well contested. In the early stages of the gamo Onehunga was well up, and it was not till the 17th head that Pukekohe got a lead, 17—10. The 18th head went to Onehunga (of a three, Pukekohe getting a useful five on the 30th. On the 20th head Robertson, in attempting to trail the jack for a four, ran it too far, and gave Pukekohe a one, but he retrieved the position by drawing a perfect shot. On the last head, which was very scattered, Onehunga was two down on the board when the skips went down. Both failed to alter the position, and tho game went to Pukekohe, 22 to LI. The Pascoe Cup was then presented to the winners by Mr. W. T. Teasey, president of the Tauranga Club, who congratulated the winners. Bish (Pukekohe) and Livingstone (Onehunga) both replied, and the tournament ended with cheers for the iaurauga executive and ladies.
