PLANS FOR HAUT MONDE NOT RACING THIS WEEK [from our own correspondent] "WOODVILLE. Monday The Lord Qucx gelding Haut Monde was paid up for in the Taranaki Cup, but his connections have now decided against racing him at New Plymouth this week. However, he will probably be racing at Woodville this month. The Woodville trainer F. Davis is likely to have three or four candidates for Te Aroha at the end of the month.

NOTES FROM EVERYWHERE

TRACK AND STABLE GOSSIP Plato has been sold by Mr. T. H. Lowry to a Taranaki sportsman and will be trained in future by J. Duggan at Woodvillc.

Miss Lapidary should be included among the entrants for the Waimangu Stakes, weight-for-age, on the opening day of the Rotorua Racing Club's meeting next Saturday week.

The Ellerslie horseman L. Dulieu will bo riding at New Plymouth for the first day of the Taranaki Jockey Club's cup meeting to-morrow, when his mounts will include Court Anna and Convivial.

The three-year-old Locknit is now located at Ellerslie under the charge of R. E. Brown. When trained by .1. White at Opotiki, Locknit was a winner in novice company at the Taumarunui meeting at Paeroa in October, lie lias not raced for some time, but is in good order to commence another preparation.

The performance of Professional in finishing third in the Hauraki .Plate at Ellerslie on Saturday was probably his best to date, and he ran out the mile much better than generally expected after making nearly all the pace. Professional is in great heart and should be difficult to beat among the hack sprinters at Matamata.

Nod Cuttle did not race very impressively at Wanganui, although he gained a place on the first day. With the benefit of his two races, his first since the Now Year, he may be able to make a better showing on the minimum of the Flying Handicap at New Plymouth if started in that race in preference to the Taranaki Plate.

A recent addition to A. Kemp's team at Ellerslie is a half-brother, by Whirlwind, to the Great Northern Steeplechase winner Glendowie. H e has had some jumping experience and may turn out useful. Another addition to the active workers at headquarters is the four-year-old gelding Captain Bruce, who lias resumed work under W. Kemp after a lengthy spell. Ho has yet to race.

Notium, who heat a' weak field of older horses in the Taranaki Stakes last season, showed his best form sineo •on the concluding day of the Wanganui meeting, and ho has revived withered hopes that he will yet reach good class among the sprinters. He is a son of Lysander and Makepeace and cost Messrs. E. L. Abbott and H. B. Gibson 260gns. as a yearling.

There was widespread interest in the doings of Pantoon in tlio Sedgebrook Juvenile Handicap at Wanganui on Saturday, but he could finish only a poor fourth, being outclassed by Aiwai, Gaily and Airini. Gaily is a (laughter of Siegfried and Just So, a halfsister to the good performers, Mireusonta and Kiosk, the lastnamed being the sire of Parakino and Glynne Park, who finished first and second respectively in the Landguard Maiden Race. There was a fair division of prizemoney in the open sprint races at Ashhurst" and Wanganui. At the first meeting Royal Secret heat Notium and Lavina in the Pohangina Handicap; Lavina beat Royal Secret in tlio Flying Handicap and Notium beat Lavina in the Campbell Handicap at Wanganui.
