HIGHWAY DEVIATION

ROUTE TO QUEENSTOWN INCLUSION OF ALEXANDRA A proposal to deviate the State highway between Clarksville and Queens-t-own so that it will pass through Alexandra and at the same time shorten the route by two miles has received the support of the South Island Motor Union. The Vincent County Council is seeking the deviation because the traffic on the secondary road through the township is several times greater than the traffic on the major route. "It has always been our policy to support the shortest route available," said the chairman, Mr. W. R. Carey, of the Motor Union, when the letter was considered. Advice of the union's support for the proposal will be forwarded to the Automobile Association, Otago, and the Vincent County Council.
