GOERING IN ROME
EFFUSIVE WELCOME PENDING DISCUSSIONS RELATIONS WITH BRITAIN By Telegraph—Fress Association —Copyright (Received January 34, 30.-1 p.m.) LONDON, Jan. 1 I Despatches from Rome state that the German Minister of Air, General Goering, arrived there and was effusively welcomed by Signor Mussolini, Count Ciano, Foreign Minister,, Signor Starace, General Secretary of the Fascist Party, and many other high authorities. A Black Shirt guard of honour was mounted inside the beflagged station, and a band played the Italian, and German National Anthems.
Cheering crowds of people outside shouted, "Hcil, Hitler," as the party drove off to the historic villa at Madama, where General Goering is to stay.
The German Minister will be received by King Victor Emanuel this mornine and will attend a banquet to be given hy Signor Mussolini this evening. The Rome correspondent of the Morning Post says it is believed that General Goering intends to discuss the Italian view on the possibility of an Anglo-German understanding on the lines of the recent Anglo-Italian assurances.
REPORT DENIED
DR. SCHACHT'S MISSION BERLIN, Jan. 33 The official German news agency denies that the Minister of Economics, Dr. Schaeht, is going t-o Paris to discuss the financial, political and economic position. The agency adds that FrancoGerman commercial negotiations are in the hands of Government experts*
