Miss Jean Batten arrived in Auckland yesterday from the thermal district and is staying at the Grand Hotel.
Miss Viva Goldstone, of Hawera, who has been the guest of Miss Clarice Green, Takapuna, has returned home.
The Misses Sybil and Joan Stewart, of Be/nuera, who have been spending a holiday at Ohope Beach, returned home last evening.
Mrs. N. H. Street, of Katik.iti, is spending a short holiday with iter sister-in-law, Mrs. A. N. Kirk, of Claudelands. Hamilton.
Mrs. F. M. Brodie and M iss Rena Brodie. Victoria Avenue, Remuera, left yesterday by motor-car to spend a holiday in Taranaki.
Mrs. A. T. Griffiths, of Hamana Street, Oevonport, who has been on a motoring tour of Taranaki and Botorua, has returned home.
Mrs. W. H. V. Taine and her daughter, of Roslyn Avenue, Bemuera. returned yesterday from a visit to Efawke's Bay and Taranaki.
Mrs. Ernest Buchol?;, of Wellington, who has been visiting her sister, Mrs. F. T. Mxirison, Mount Hobson Road. Remuera, left last evening on her return south.
Among tlie guests at the Boval Hotel are Mrs. R. Stewart (Nelson), Mrs. A. Morris (Wellington), Mrs. H. Gower (Wanganui) and Mrs. P. Hill (Maungaturoto).
Miss Margaret of St. Leonard's Road, Mount will return to-day from Palmerston North, where she has been the guest of her aunt, Mrs. AV. de Ltien.
Mrs. Stanley Chambers, a vice-presi-dent of the Lyceum Club, assisted in receiving the guests at a morning tea party given on Wednesday in honoui of the visiting scientists' wives. Mrs. Preston Chambers was not present at the function.
Mrs. M. Scott-Young, of Remuera, accompanied by her daughter, Miss Pat Scott-Young, of Gisborne, is visiting Te Puia hot springs and spa. Mrs. Scott-Young, who is on a motor tour of New Zealand, will leave next week for the South Island, where she and her husband will visit the Cold Lnkes. for the fishing, returning to Auckland in March.
