DERAILMENT OF TRUCKS
SOUTH ISLAND MISHAP DELAY TO OTHER TRAFFIC [BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION] DUXEDIX, Friday Three trucks on the through night goods train from the North, consisting of 28 trucks, were derailed on the north side of Warrington this morning. The authorities received advice of the mishap at 9.18 o'clock and a breakdown van left here 40 minutes later. Buses were sent from Waitati and Seacliff to bring in passengers on the morning train from Oamaru and on the Christchurch mail train north, which is held up at Waitati. The front wheels of the first truck derailed first left the rails near Omimi, but it was not until the train was running over the points at the Warrington yards that a violent jerk completed the derailment, taking two other trucks off also. None of the trucks capsized. The damage to the permanent way was small and it was not necessary to delay the north mail train more than 75 minutes, since a side line in the goods yard was able to be used to bridge the break The line was later cleared.
