WAGE RATES OF 1931

SOME WORKERS INELIGIBLE BUSINESS REORGANISATIONS A number of complaints by workers that the 1931 rates of pay have not been restored to them has disclosed an interesting situation. In these particular instances they worked for private employers in 1931 and were not under awards. These employers subsequently converted their businesses into limited liability companies, so that the workers, although still engaged in their employment, experienced a change of employer. In the reorganisation of such businesses wages were reduced, for economy measures were considered necessary. It has been ruled that such workers are not entitled to the rates they earned in 1931 under their former employers.
