MORTGAGE RELIEF
| THE NEW LEGISLATION : FEW APPLICATIONS AS YET bo far only a small proportion of mortgagors or guarantors of mortgages have accepted the invitation to apply for protection under the Mortgagors and Lessees Rehabilitation Act. In response to thousands of forms that were issued from Auckland recently only 230 applications have so far been filed with the clerk of the Court of Review. The final date for the receipt of these applications has been definitely fixed as January 30, and it is anticipated that a large number will pour in before the end of tho month. The legal vacation, which does not end until next Monday, is no doubt holding up a considerable number of these in the meantime. For the convenience of the largo section of tho public concerned tho Court of Review has 13 "registries" or branch offices situated throughout the province at Kaitaia, Kaikohe, Whangarei, Dargaville, Auckland, Pukekohe, Thames. To Aroha, Hamilton, To Kuiti, Rotorua, Whakatane and Taumarunui. All applications are dealt with first of all by the Court of Review, and then referred by it where necessary to the appropriate adjustment commission.
