Auckland was considered by many to bo one of the most beautiful places visited. The beauty of the War Memorial Museum, its utility and its commanding situation made it compare more than favourably with that of Melbourne. The .Bay of Islands itself was much admired by the tourists, many of whom said that in its harbours New Zealand had an attraction which no other country could claim.
