TRANSFER OF FLAG ADMIRAL'S NEW SHIP H.M.S. DUNEDIN'S RECORDS As one of the last ceremonies to be observed on H.M.S. Dunedin before her final departure from New Zealand for England 011 February .10, preparatory to her being replaced on the New Zealand station by H.M.S. Leander, the flag of the commodore, RearAdmirnl tlie Hon. E. I!. Drummond, will be transferred from the vessjl which lias been New Zealand's flagship for the last 12J years to the-new cruiser Achilles at 9..'50 this morning. H.M.S. Dunedin has served on the New Zealand Station ever since 1924 a record not approached by any other warship which has been attached to the station. She arrived as a member of the Special Services Squadron of battle-cruisers and light cruisers which made a tour of the Empire in that year and from May, 1921, she has been flagship of the division, mother record which has not been equalled in tho history of the station. When she leaves she will take with her the gratitude and admiration of the whole of the country, for if she has not had to serve in action she has been of assistance to the Government in many ways and has worthily upheld the traditions of tho Royal Navy in this part of the world. Another record held by the Dunedin is that sho has flown the flags of five commodores of tho New Zealand Division. When she became flagship on May 20, 1924, she was under tho command of Commodore A. Heal, and other commodores for whom she has acted as flagship have been Commodore G. T. C. P. Swabcv, Rear-Admiral Geoffrey Blake, liear-Admiral F. Burges Watson, and Rear-Admiral the Hon. K. It. Drummond.
