POLITICAL BODIES
BAN ON UNIFORMS BRITISH FASCISTS' PLAINT LONDON, Jan. 3 The British Union of Fascists has complained to Sir Philip Game, Commissioner of Metropolitan Police that a police sergeant on January 1 requested a Fascist to remove an armlet bearing the Fascist insignia. The union contends that the sergeant's action was illegal and asks Sir Philip to order a discontinuance of such actions and thus obviate the union starting proceedings in the High Court to secure protection for personal tradition and liberties. The commissioner, in response to another letter, refused to institute a test case regarding the legality of wearing a black shirt under a plain jacket. The Public Order Act, which prohibits the weariug of uniforms by political parties came into force on January 1, and this police action has been taken under the new legislation.
