YOUNG MAN'S OFFENCES TWO YEARS' PROBATION When he appeared for sentence before Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M., in the Police Court yesterday, on two charges of converting motor-vehicles to his own use and another of driving without a licence, Leonard Marmaduke Walker, labourer, aged 21, of Whangarei, admitted a further charge of stealing petrol in a drum to a total value of 15s, the property of Arthur Stanley Flower, of Maungaturoto. Sub-Inspector Fox said accused decided to visit Auckland for Christinas, and converted two motor-vehicles to do so, damaging one to the extent of £IOO and creating a towage account of £5 12s Gd, as well as stealing petrol to complete the journey in another car. " Accused's whole outlook on life has changed in the last 12 months, since an injury to his back, suffered in an accident, has affected him," said Mr. Fox. Accused and a bov of 16 had been charged at Whangarei on Novembei 29 with "the theft of bicycle parts. The magistrate ordered probation for two years on two of the charges, the others being dismissed.
