NEW MAGISTRATE
MR. C. R. ORR WALKER AUCKLAND DUTIES ASSUMED A notable'feature about the proceedings in the Auckland Police Court- yesterday was the- introduction on the first day of the year of a new magistrate, Sir. C. E. Orr Walker, who succeeds Mr. F. K. Hunt on the Bench here. No formal welcome was extended to Mr. Orp-- Walker from tbf Court, but police officials and solicitors, who had not already made his acquaintance. wished him a pleasant- term as magistrate. Mr. Orr Walker practised as a solicitor in Auckland for a' number of years before he was made a magistrate. From 1921 to 1923 he was Chief Justice of the High Court of Western Samoa. On returning to New Zealand he was stationed for some time at Wellington, and for the past ten years he has been magistrate at Timarii.
