GLINT FROG CARGO
DELICACIES FOR SYDNEY MANY DIE ON VOYAGE [fhom our own correspondent] SYDNEY. Dec. 21 Fifteen giant frogs were eared for in the hospital of the British freighter Forthbank, which arrived at Sydney from Now Orleans. They were the survivors of a consignment of 36 thoroughbreds for farms at Burwood and Orange which will supply Australian supper delicacies. In the Gulf of Mexico the Forthbank ran into heavy weather. The frogs suffered from seasickness and most of tho biggest ones died. The chief officer realised that a continuous water supply was necessary to keep the frogs. He flooded the floor of the hospital with fresh water, and hung canvas bags of water from the roof, and dripping from the bags kept the backs of the frogs wet. Only three died after the cool water treatment was established. A piece of ice was placed in each box each day and once a week the frogs were fed with crushed uiince steak.
