MAORI GIRLS' SCHOOL

FUNCTION AT ONEHUNGA Favoured with ideal weather conditions. the annual At Homo held at tho Kurahuna Methodist Maori Girls' School, Onehunga, on Saturday, was a most successful function. Miss Rishworth, chairman of tho ladies' committee, presided, and was assisted by Mrs. Hopper and the Rev. E. S. Harkness, chaplain to the school. The visitors, who were representative of the Methodist congregations of the city and suburbs, were welcomed by Miss Rishworth, who spoke of the g«od work accomplished during the school year and of the value this would be to the students in the formation of their characters. Their training in domestic science and practical hygiene would also bo of special help to them when they returned to their own people. Tho speaker referred appreciatively to the work of the matron, Sister Netta Gittos, and tho sub-matron, Miss Hodgson. The keen interest taken by the girls in their Scripture lessons was referred to by Mr. Harkness. Sister Gittos reviewed the year's work. Each student was presented with a booklet by Mr. Harkness. . .

A short programme, comprising a haka of welcome, poi dances and songs was presented by the girls. Afternoon tea was served in tho grounds after whiqh the visitors made a tour of inspection of the house.
