WHANGAREI NOTES
ORGANIST'S SERVICES In appreciation of her services as organist at tho Presbyterian Church, Portland, for the past 10 years, Mrs. W. E. Williams, was presented with a salad bowl recently. In making tho presentation, tho Rev. W. Wild expressed appreciation of tho work of Mrs. Williams, who was also presented with a bouquet by Shirley Chilman. Mrs. Strotton, who will leave Whanngarei shortly to reside in Auckland, entertained her pupils and a number of parents at her homo in Huapai Street. A musical recital was given by the pupils. The annual concert at the Whangarei District Hospital, given by Madame A. T. Brninsby's choir and concert party, was greatly appreciated by the patients and staff. Solos were sung by Mrs. A. Marsden Woods, Mrs. R. Stevenson and Mr. H. G. Carruth. Mr. L. T. Piekmere gave a violin solo, and Mrs. 'J'. J. Griffin a humorous recitation. On behalf of the Hospital Board. Mr. F. Higginson expressed thanks to Madame Rrainsby and those Associated with her. Cars for transport we.ro loaned by Mesdames Harmati Smith, G. Woolley, D. Cook, J. Donaldson and Miss A. Drummond. The Hon. Mrs. Ralph Vane and Mr. and Mrs. Lainorna Birch, of England, aro staying at Manaia Gardens, Whangarei Heads. Mrs. J. C. Hill has arrived from Auckland to take up her residence in Whangaroi. Mrs. A. E, Gillingham, of Walton, made a short visit to tho Whangarei district.
Mrs. Cameron Miller, of Thames, is visiting Whangaroi. Mrs. T. 11. Caplin, of Whangarei, is on a visit to Auckland.
