DAMAGES AWARDED
MOTOR COLLISION SEQUEL JUDGMENT FOR WOMAN DRIVER [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] DUNEDIN, Tuesday Judgment was given by Mr. J. R. Bartholomew, S.AI.. in the Dunedin Magistrate's Court to-day in the case in which Catherine McGregor, schoolteacher, of Dunedin, proceeded against South Road Service, Balclutha, for damages the claim arising out of an accident at North Taicri on July 20, 19.*} 1. Plaintiff's car was struck at the back by defendant's bus, which was driven by William Robert O'Fec. In her claim plaintiff stated that the accident was due to the negligence of O'Fec. Her car was damaged and she suffered concussion and other injuries. She claimed general damages amounting to £lls and special damages of £l5O.
The magistrate said he was satisfied that the evidence for plaintiff accurately set out the position. Although she gave no signal before pulling up, her stop was a gradual slowing down and there was ample road room for the bus to have passed. The effective cause of the collision was tho negligence of O'Ece.
Judgment was given for plaintiff for £283.
