MOUNT ALBERT RATES
SATISFACTORY COLLECTIONS REPORT TO THE COUNCIL Satisfaction with the rating position in the borough was expressed by the Mayor of Mount Albert, Mr. H. A. Anderson, at a meeting of the council last night. Mr. Anderson stated that, although the levy had been reduced by as much as 10 per cent during the year, the amount collected to December 10 actually exceeded last year's figures, which had been a record It was reported that general current rate collections to December 10 amounted to £2!'.871, and collections of arrears to £11,259, in comparison with £28,770 and £15,249 respectively last year. Collections of current water rates to the same date amounted to £.1699, and of arrears to £•'!■'if/7, compared with £4202 and £2929 rospectivelv last year.
The number of building permits for November was 10, to a value of £1821), and for 11 months ended November 80 the number was 280, to a value of £02.201, compared with a total of 210, valued at £5 2,0,')•">, for the same period last year. For the 11 months there had been 07 permits for duellings valued at £42,500, compared with 51 and £28,2".'{ last year.
The Mayor, Mr. G. E. Carr and the town clerk, Mr. T. 11. Congalton, were appointed to represent the council at the conference of the New Zealand Municipal Association at Timaru next March.
Mr. W. T. Anderton, M.P., paid a visit to the meeting, and listened to the business.
